Free Alberta Class 7 Practice Test
Getting your learner's licence in Alberta starts with the Class 7 knowledge test: 30 multiple-choice questions at a registry office, with a pass mark of 25 out of 30. The practice test below uses the same format — every test draws a fresh random 30 from our bank of 100+ questions written from the Alberta driver's guide, so no two attempts are the same. And unlike the real thing, every answer comes with an explanation.
Our advice: practice until you consistently score 27 or higher. Then book the real test with confidence (it costs about $17 per attempt at the registry, so passing first time pays for itself).

Every test draws a fresh random 30 from the 100+ question bank — take it as many times as you like. Or warm up with a quick 10.

What's on the Alberta Class 7 knowledge test?
The test covers the rules of the road (speed limits, right-of-way, signalling), traffic signs and signals, safe driving practices (following distance, skids, winter driving), and Alberta's Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) rules — including the zero alcohol tolerance for Class 7 drivers and the 8-demerit suspension threshold. Questions come from the Alberta Basic Licence Driver's Handbook.
How it works
- You can take the knowledge test at any Alberta registry from age 14 with a parent or guardian's consent.
- Bring ID — and expect a fee of roughly $17 per attempt (varies by registry).
- After passing, you'll hold your Class 7 for at least 12 months before you can take the Class 5-GDL road test.
- Signs are a big part of the test — practice them separately with our road signs quiz.
